Fortum Bio2X

and Chempolis develop biorefinery projects using feedstock like bamboo, bagasse, wheat or rice straws and having products like dissolving pulp, lignin, biochemicals and bioethanol. First industrial bio-refinery with our technology is under construction in India and it starts operation next year. Customers have proven our products to have high quality with excellent LCA. We are looking for potential partners and investors to bio-refineries in Thailand as well as customers to our products. We see excellent potential in the textile industry to use our high quality dissolving pulp for MMCF textile fiber production as well as high demand by several brands.

Fortum Bio2X คือโปรเจกต์ของบริษัท Fortum (ฟอร์ทัม) ซึ่งเป็นบริษัทพลังงานของฟินแลนด์ ที่มุ่งเน้นการพัฒนาและสร้างธุรกิจใหม่ที่ใช้วัสดุชีวภาพ (biomass) เพื่อผลิตสินค้ามูลค่าสูง โดยมีเป้าหมายเพื่อทดแทนวัสดุจากฟอสซิลและวัสดุที่ไม่เป็นมิตรต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม

เทคโนโลยีและกระบวนการ

Fortum Bio2X ใช้เทคโนโลยีที่เรียกว่า "fractionation" หรือการแยกส่วน ซึ่งเป็นกระบวนการทางเคมีที่นำวัสดุชีวภาพ เช่น ฟางข้าว ไม้ไผ่ หรือเศษไม้ มาแยกออกเป็นองค์ประกอบหลัก ได้แก่ เซลลูโลส (Cellulose) ใช้ในการผลิตเส้นใยสิ่งทอ กระดาษ และพลาสติกชีวภาพลิกนิน (Lignin) ใช้ในการผลิตพลาสติไซเซอร์สำหรับคอนกรีต สารยึดเกาะ และเรซิน และเฮมิเซลลูโลส (Hemicellulose) ใช้ในการผลิตสารเคมีชีวภาพและเชื้อเพลิงชีวภาพ

ตัวอย่างการนำไปใช้

สิ่งทอจากฟางข้าว Fortum Bio2X ได้ร่วมมือกับนักออกแบบเพื่อสร้างสรรค์คอลเลกชันเสื้อผ้าจากเส้นใยสิ่งทอที่ทำจากฟางข้าว ซึ่งเป็นวัสดุเหลือใช้ทางการเกษตร พลาสติไซเซอร์จากลิกนิน พัฒนาสารเสริมสภาพคอนกรีต (superplasticizers) ที่ทำจากลิกนิน เพื่อทดแทนสารที่ทำจากฟอสซิล และเชื้อเพลิงชีวภาพ การนำไม้ไผ่มาแปรรูปเป็นเอทานอลชีวภาพ (bio-ethanol) เพื่อใช้ผสมกับน้ำมันเบนซิน

ในปัจจุบัน Fortum ได้ขายธุรกิจและเทคโนโลยีที่เกี่ยวข้องกับ Bio2X ให้กับบริษัท AM Green ซึ่งเป็นผู้พัฒนาด้านโมเลกุลสีเขียว (green molecules) เพื่อนำไปใช้ลดการปล่อยคาร์บอนในอุตสาหกรรมต่างๆ โดยการขายธุรกิจในครั้งนี้ทำให้เทคโนโลยีของ Bio2X ได้รวมเข้ากับธุรกิจหลักของ Chempolis ซึ่งเป็นบริษัทเทคโนโลยีชีวภาพที่ Fortum เคยร่วมทุนด้วย
