initiation of Young Designers is one of many activities
from THTI which intends to promote and develop personnel
in production and fashion design of Thai clothings for
having competitive capacity in the world stage, and develop
them to be commercial products. THTI has so far enhanced
personnel in fashion design to fashion design students,
including entrepreneurs in textile and garment industry.
Designers and interested people can join a training and
improve their skills in various styles from THTI. The institute
opens for applications and selects participants from many
educational institutes, such as vocational training schools, university
education and people in general who have designing
skill. According to the project, they have an opportunity to have
their products displayed and to be accepted. The institute
selects a representative from 5 regions, and we have application
centers in 5 regions to arrange a training, e.g., the north
(Chiang Mai), the central (Bangkok), the north east (Khon
Khaen), the east (Chonburi) and the South (Hatyai). After getting
a representative from each region, we will hold a last retraining on competition technique, then arrange a final round
by setting up a competition of their work and decide from real
sales. THTI performed these activities/projects below:
- The project of Fashion Trend Designer Contest
- The project of Promoting and Developing Fashion Merchandiser
??
- The project of Promoting Thai Fashion Brand
- The project of Thailand Fashion Making to Design Contest
After finishing projects or activities above, THTI is willing to
support and push ahead with its projects to be more concrete
by taking products won the first prize from each activities to
compete in an international stage continually, for example:
- Asian Young Designer Contest, Singapore Fashion
Week, held in Singapore
- World of Wearable Art Awards (WOW), held in Nelson,
South Island New Zealand
From each time that THTI took a winning prize to an international
stage, we got a concrete result. We all should congratulate with it because a product of Thai designer, which was
promoted by THTI, got a prize and made a reputation to
Thailand among Asia and around the world. In 2002, Thailand
recieved a second prize from Asian Young Designer Contest
held in Singapore. In 2003, we also won a prize from a work
called “Avant Garde” from the ‘World of Wearable Awards
(WOW)” in New Zealand. And in 2004, we got the first prize
from “Sigapore Fashion Week” held in Singapore. Moerover, in
the year of 2004, THTI sent pieces of work from the projects to
compete in the World of Wearable Art Awards (WOW) in New
Zealand, and Thai designers won 4 prizes below:
First prize in Children’s Dress, and in Magic Underwear
Second prize in Reflective Material of Surface, and first
prize in creative work called “Fly of Memory”
From results of each activity above, the institute realized
an important of personnel development by supporting and
pushing personnel in textile and garment industry to have more
potential, competitive for the world stage, and more added value to Thai textile products for increasing an export and
being more accepted in the world.
“Human resource development in Textile and garment
industry” is one of THTI’s missions that we will seriously and
consistently carry out. The past performance, THTI received
cooperation from both government and private sector,
including entrepreneurs in textile and garment industry who
supported the helpful projects to run smoothly, so all projects
have been well succeeded according to the objective. ??
